Secrets of the Pyramids
Made for Jamingtons 8.0 Quarantine Jam
This is our first game jam and for myself (Albi) it is my first game.
The theme for this jam was 'language' so we decided to go with an Egyptian theme so we can explore the use of hieroglyphs. We're very happy with what we achieved in this space of time and we are hoping to continue the development of the game beyond its current state as we didn't have time to implement everything we wanted (this includes the ending).
The current aim of the game is to get to the top of the pyramid to reach the Egyptian God Ra, we intended for him to be a final boss but we were unable to finish that in time for the deadline, at the moment nothing happens.
Please note that there are also some bugs/mistakes that we did not have time to fix. This includes the keypad where the text has not scaled correctly on all resolutions so what you type may not display correctly.

I really loved the setting and the lighting! If I have to say something, maybe I would polish the speed of the enemies and the jump of the character, since sometimes gets trapped on the walls or you wish you could jump less high, but really good job for a first game! :)
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah we swapped the movement function out so it no longer gets trapped on walls. And same with the height aspect! Thank you ! We will be updating it once we have added enough extra content
right of the bat its pretty god but i would change a few things:
1. there should be an option to change the jump from the space bar to the up arrow, your hands are already kind of everywhere b/c of the mouse.
2. the character should be visibly jarred, shocked, or change when hit
3. the character changes direction based n what direction you are walking in, not based on where the mouse is.
4. the jumps should be varied. longer you hold jump key=higher you go
5. it would also be nice to be able to change the combat things to z and x or some other thing
First off thank you for taking the time to give our game a try. Also thank you for the advice, the jump key is something we must of overlooked but we can easily add both forms of control for that and the combat and the height change jump is actually in place was just unfortunately too late to make the gamejam cut. I like the idea to add a reaction to being hit, always happy to add more animation to the game and now we have more time I will get working on that. The sprite direction was originally set to the direction you were walking but we decided to swap it because we liked the idea of stepping back from enemies while shooting and facing them.
